The Gulf Mark (G Mark) is a conformity mark required for children's toys low voltage devices prepared for export to any of the Gulf Coordinating Council (GCC) states to the countries according to the technical regulations set by the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO).
The products that hold the G Mark are proven to be conformed to the gulf standards of quality and safety.
G Mark affixing procedures
List 1 of regulated products:
A Self-declaration conformity assessment is required to apply for the G Mark.
Manufacturers must have a system in place—typically a factory quality control system—to ensure products are being manufactured and assembled in a controlled manner
Manufacturers should ensure production line testing to confirm the product quality and integrity to maintain conformity within the design intent.
List 2 of regulated products:
Applying for the G Mark, in this case, requires choosing a Notified Body (NB), to carry out the examination of the technical design of a product and verify its compliance with the Gulf technical regulations and issue the evaluation report with the Gulf Type Examination certificate.
The Notified Body must also ensure the manufacturing has a production-quality system implemented to confirm that the product is being manufactured in accordance with the technical specifications.
G Mark Tracking System (GCTS)
The products that hold the G Mark must be registered in the product tracking system of GSO and the “Gulf Conformity Tracking Symbol” (GCTS) must be labeled on the product itself and its packaging. ]
The G Mark granting process:
The applicant must submit certain technical documents, such as instruction manuals, safety electromagnetic compatibility tests, etc.
After reviewing the technical documents, if it is found that the process complies with the regulations, the certificate is issued and the G Mark can be affixed.
Once the entire certification process has been completed, products must bear the conformity mark, formed by the G Mark logo.
The most important required documents for G Mark:
IECEE CB/ GAC/ ILAC report/ Intertek test report with the correct national deviations.
Manufacturer Declaration of Conformity.
Importer Declaration of Conformity.
The importance of the G mark:
G Mark facilitates the movement of low-voltage equipment and devices to the GCC member countries.
Establishing a single market, allowing the free movement of these products in the member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC).
G Mark identifies safe products that comply with the technical regulations with the G Mark printed on the product.
Unifying the certification process in accordance with the community regulation within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Eliminating technical barriers and establishes a common market with free competition and uniform requirements.
Clarifying the obligations and responsibilities of manufacturers and importers regarding commercial exchange.
Reducing costs related to customs clearance and market supervision.
Tabseer plays a key role in the regulatory process and technical assessment of products intended for the GCC common market. We are one of the first Saudi accredited bodies providing G Mark conformity assessment services for low voltage devices, in addition, we are registering with the GSO for granting the G Mark.
