Dear Community Hi I'm running Win10 home edition. I have a problem with notepad which is not opening from yesterday. So I started from SFC then gone to Restore health but still the issue persists. Kindly refer the screenshot below and suggest me the recommendations to resolve the issue.

You can resolve notepad isn't opening in Windows 10 by deleting a problematic app. Here by doing a clean boot on your system and see if Notepad can be opened. Then, allow the apps to search the procedure that could be the reason for this error with your Notepad app. In case there does exist an app that is troubling Notepad, you have an option to disable it through the Task Manager or uninstall it instantly. In case it doesn't work then you can start Notepad from either the System32 or SysWOW64 locations in the Windows folder. Disable/Remove the Conflicting Applications

The Notepad application may not open if another application/process on your system is hindering the operation of the Notepad. In this case, removing the conflicting applications (like WinSeven.exe or Notepad++) may solve the problem.

  • Boot your computer into safe mode and check if the Notepad is working fine.
  • If so, perform a clean boot of your PC and check if the issue is resolved.
  • If so, then enable the processes/applications one by one till you find the problematic application/process. A malware named ‘WinSeven.exe’ (hidden in the Winshell folder) is known to create the issue at hand and in some instances, Notepad++ caused a similar behavior.
  • Once the problematic application is found, you may disable it in the Startup tab of the Task Manager or completely uninstall it (in Settings>>Apps). If the issue was caused by malware, make sure to perform a thorough malware scan of your system.

This will work,
Jimmy Wick
