How To Mute Words On Twitter: The Easiest Way to Avoid Being Annoyed

It can be difficult to avoid being annoyed on Twitter. Whether you’re a casual user or someone who Tweets frequently, you’ll run into moments when you read an especially annoying Tweet that makes it hard not to respond in kind. But responding negatively to an ill-phrased Tweet can have the opposite effect of what you intend for. Unfollowing someone who keeps posting offensive Tweets or unfollowing them just to stop receiving their messages won’t help either; it only prevents you from seeing their new posts in your timeline. Luckily, there’s a simple solution to this annoyance: muting them! Here’s how to do it and avoid being annoyed by others without unfollowing everyone.

What is muting on Twitter?

Muting is when you choose not to see Tweets from a particular user. If you unfollowed someone, you’ll still see their Tweets as long as they’re following you, but you won’t see them in your timeline. If you mute a user, they can still see your Tweets, but they won’t be able to read them unless they unfollow you first. Muting can be helpful when you don’t want to respond to someone’s Tweets but keep seeing them in your timeline. Because you’re not responding, it’s a little less confrontational than unfollowing someone.

How to mute words on Twitter

If you want to mute a word or phrase in your Twitter settings, it’s easy to do. You have to go to your profile, click the gear icon at the top left of your screen, and then select “Settings”. On the “General” tab, scroll down to the “Manage Accounts” section and choose the account you want to edit. There are a few things you can do to mute words on Twitter, but most of them are only available to paid Twitter clients. Here’s how to mute specific words on Twitter. - Mute Words: In this section, you can mute the words you see in your timeline. This is useful if someone is using bigoted or abusive language, or if you just don’t like hearing a word used that way. You can mute words by clicking the “mute words” radio button, and then typing the word or phrase you want to mute. This works especially well if someone you’re trying to avoid hearing is following you. Once you’ve muted the word or phrase, you won’t see it in your Twitter feed any more, and the user you muted will not be able to read it. - Mute Keywords: If you’re getting annoyed by someone’s use of certain keywords and phrases, you can mute them. This is a paid feature in some Twitter clients, but you can also easily do it on your own account. To mute a keyword on Twitter, click the “Keywords” drop-down menu on your Twitter settings and choose “Mute Keywords”. Once you’ve chosen this option, the list of keywords will be shaded and you’ll see a blank space where you can type the keyword you want to mute.
