Colombia is the seventh most attractive country in the world for mining investments, according to an industry report.
Behre Dolbear's 2012 Ranking of Countries for Mining Investment assesses political risk and whether or not countries have "policies and business conditions [which] promote investment growth."
Of the 25 countries listed, Australia, Canada and Chile took the top three spots while Russia, Bolivia and the Democratic Republic of Congo were at the bottom.
The countries were ranked using seven criteria. Colombia did poorly in "The degree of social issues affecting mining in the country" category, ranking third after Australia and Chile.
Brazil and Mexico did better than Colombia overall ranking fourth and fifth respectively, though Peru fared worse, coming in at number nine.
