2D animation refers to videos in which each aspect of the video, like characters and objects, are rendered on 2D flat space. 2D means two dimensional, namely the length and height. You can also call them plain shapes or figures. In simpler words, 2D animation is a moving art that is created to work in a 2D space, and the 2D shapes are those who have area but no volume.
